Changing region with restricted account
Hi

So, my friend moved to my country.
She already had a steam account but with games bought from retailers (so not steam store) so her account is still restricted.

She wanted to add fund on her wallet but couldn't because of the region change restriction (can only change region once every 90 days).

The thing is, it is now more than 90 days and she is still unable to add fund.

So I wonder if she is not in a "paradoxal" situation where :
- she cannot "unrestrict" her account by adding fund because she changed region
- but in the same time she cannot update her region because her account is restricted. ...

Is this a known issue ?

What can be done ?

(I ask for her since she cannot post messages on steam...)

Thanks

Your friend should make a support ticket if they believe they have an account or billing issue.

Limited accounts can post on Steam. How is her account restricted?

She tried but couldn't. Steam saying that something in the comment is not allowed (but what?).

So it is a limited account I guess (?)
I meant "restricted" regarding the change of region (90 days), "locked" is a better word I guess. I don't believe her account to be restricted otherwise.

Are limited accounts not allowed to change region after 90 days?

Thanks for the answers btw!

What method of payment is she trying to use? And is it from the country she has moved to?
Yami Jan 24 @ 3:39pm
Yes we tried more or less every payment method we have here.
But steam asks to use a method of the store location (so from her former country) but we don't have access to those here.

She should be able to select her new region from the drop down menu while making a purchase.

Instead of buying wallet funds, maybe try buying a game instead. If she wants to unlimit her account while changing region dont forget it needs to be valued at the equivalent of $5.00.

Yes she can choose the new region but when proceeding to the payment she gets the steam message "sorry you cannot change region more than once every 3 months..."
even though it is more than 3 months now.

So I wonder if the fact that it is a limited account prevents her to change region (it is my theory but I'm not sure at all).

Thanks for the replies

How old is her account?

Reason i ask is that in order to change store regions you have to buy either wallet funds or games using a debit/credit card. So seeing as her account is limited that means she has never made a purchase on steam and her store region would be based off what country her account was made in. Is her account less then 3 months old?

Her account is around 1 year old I think but definitly more than 7 or 8 months at least.
She used to buy games on third party website (greenman etc) so, yeah never made a purchased directly on steam.
(the thing is some dlc etc are only on the steam store, that's why she would like to be able to buy directly on steam now).
Her store region is the one she made the account in.

Well im all out of ideas, she may have to contact steam support and see what they say....

As a last resort you could always try using your own payment on her account to see if that works and remove the saved payment method from her account afterwards. But that would be totally up to you as i don't normally advise people to give out such personal details to others regardless how much they trust that person.

Either way, I wish you good luck and hope you guys can get it sorted out.

Very well, I'll see what we can do :)

Thank you very much for your time! :)
