Packing gems
I don't know if this is just my problem or not, but can someone explain to me why I can't convert a 600 pack and a 400 pack into a 1000 gem pack? :)

Because Valve never cared enough to allow it. You can combine them to a single stack by trading, then put them into a sack.

Going forward, if an item has a trade restriction, don't turn it into gems until the restriction is over. That way they won't show up as separate stacks.

All items have their own restrictions on them and the gems you created with those items inherited those parent restrictions.
