This is usually a symptom of a CPU bottleneck. Obviously under normal conditions a 10th gen I7 shouldn't be bottlenecking a 3060.

The first thing i'd do is check CPU temps, clockspeeds, voltages ect make sure everything is running within spec.

Also, make sure you don't have Vsync enabled in Nvidia control panel.

I would do as MancSoulja stated of disabling vsync in nvidia control panel, also ensure that max fps isn't set there. If you are using windows 10/11 go to the display settings, click your main monitor (if you have multiple), advanced display, set your refresh rate to its max for good measure. beyond that the game settings would need to be changed as those can be set to a low fps by default in some cases. And check you don't have any software running that would limit fps, i believe riveratuner does.

So what would be irregular temps and or voltage for the cpu to look out for? And what software can I use to check all that?

I’ve stopped using rivatuner but I sometimes still use it to gauge what fps I’m getting is there another software you recommend for gauging fps?

Some games have built-in fps monitor which is the only one I typically use as my main build can handle any game thrown at it with high fps 4k (with exceptions for games that have issues). Were any of the 2 settings changed in nvidia that we mentioned? Also use libre hardware monitor to monitor the temp/voltages/fans/etc.

I haven’t changed them yet can’t get on till tomorrow and I know on NVIDIA control panel I don’t have a fps limit but for the vsync I have to check to
Tomorrow. Libre hardware got it
