Steam Settings not Saving

I had this problem & realised that Steam doesn't have a proper forum answer for it.
So, here is the solution...

If you've changed Steam's settings & they're just not working / doing what they're supposed to do, here's what you've got to do:

1. Open steam settings & enable Steam Cloud (in Cloud). If you have already done so, re-enable it. Then close down both the settings & steam, so this setting is now saved.

2. Reopen steam & the settings, then re-enable or re-disable any settings you want to work this time. Again, close both the settings & steam.

Now they should be saved & working.
I tested this by opening a game, since one of the settings I wanted was for steam to stop launching along with my games.

On a side note, this may work while doing all the settings at the same time - or it may not (I don't know).
I had actually closed the settings & steam down each time I re-enabled a setting (just in case) but I figured only the above steps are necessary for this problem.
