Gift Refund Window
Is the two week refund window on a gift based on the date it was bought, or the date it was recieved?

Date you accepted the gift.
See, I thought that, but Steam Support won't help me with a refund because of the day I bought the game.

Hmm i could have sworn it was from the moment you accepted the gift but apparently its really from the moment it was bought.

A refund may be issued for any gift that was purchased within fourteen days and has been played less than two hours by the gift recipient. If the refund request is approved, your purchase will be refunded to the original payment method. If your payment method does not support this, your Steam Wallet will be credited the full amount. For more information, review our Refund Policy.

Wonder if it was changed or i remember it wrong. Anyway, sorry for the wrong first answer, seems its from the moment it was bought.
When did you buy it? Over 14 days ago?

Did the gift recipient accept the gift? Over 14 days ago?

Did they play for more than 2 hours?
It was bought December 3rd, it was received December 27th, we attempted to return it January 8th.

The wording implies it's 14 days from purchase, but I also know there was a general view that it applied from gift receipt. I wonder if it may have changed when they changed how the system works for fully released titles that allow you to play them a few days early if you buy the deluxe edition, like Starfield, e.g. they took the opportunity to tighten up on gift refunding at the same time.

Refunds on Gifts

Unredeemed gifts may be refunded within the standard 14-day/two-hour refund period. Redeemed gifts may be refunded under the same conditions if the gift recipient initiates the refund. Funds used to purchase the gift will be returned to the original purchaser.
