Different mods on different computers
I have a desktop and a laptop with steam and some of the same games installed (e.g. Europa Universalis 4, Cities Skylines etc.). The desktop has lots of hard drive space but the laptop does not. The laptop keeps auto-downloading the mods that I have subscribed to on my desktop, even though I don't have the hard drive space for it, even after I delete them from the mods folder they are re-downloaded. I have checked the forums and this problem exists since 2018 (at least 3 different posts with the same problem) but no one has offered a useful solution.
How can I stop them from downloading to the laptop and taking so much HDD space?

Since mod subscriptions are on the user level, making a new Steam account and using Family library sharing (if the game can be shared) is a worthy workaround.

Please note that in such setup, saves won't be synced between Steam users.
The installs between both the desktop and laptop are being synced with regard to workshop mods because you are using the same account, therefore either reduce the mods available on the desktop, do not play the game on your laptop, or do as the poster above suggested.

Another solution is to have mods off site (such as from nexus) instead of through steam, if you add them to your desktop manually steam won't be auto downloading them. But keep in mind having a save with mods in a game then loading it with them not installed could break your save

Note that having different mods on different systems is more or less a bad idea as any save games you have won't be transferrable between computers because you won't have the correct mods installed on each side.
