Needing a API-Key to playnite

I'm not exactly sure what you're saying, but if that thing requires the API-key, it might have tried to just create one. However, Steam changed this a while back, so you need to confirm API key creations with the mobile app.

So far, I have successfully avoided the use of API keys, but you could try to create an API-key manually first. The client API might still be able to just read an existing key.
