[drm] Failed to add display topology, DTM TA is not initialized.

This is when trying to plug the steam deck into the samsung TV at the hotel which, irritatingly, has the TV diagnostic menu disabled so I have no idea what the model is.
Running Steam Deck stable, just updated today 2023-04-01

Wondering if anyone else has encountered this and if there are any workarounds or if this is just unfixable mysteries of drm, wayland and hdmi.

oh. if this helps at all, it's probably not the steam deck's fault. I plugged in a devuan linux laptop (also amd gpu) running X11, and got the error "[drm:dc_link_detect_helper: [amdgpu]] *ERROR* No EDID read." and it did not connect at all. So this TV is just doing something odd

Iiiinteresting And the laptop works with the screen if I use the port they had their DVD player plugged into. Ok. This might just be some HDMI lockdown nonsense.

Confirmed. Steam deck also fine on that input (although initially it "unified" both inputs at 800x600 vertical so had to fiddle around in settings in Desktop mode to get something useful). So, if you get this error on a random hotel screen, try their DVD player connector ☺

Yeah. that's what I'm thinking DRM nonsense. And I'm guessing they whitelisted their old DVD player's port to make it usable.
