cant connect to the server in steam client

only happens to a specific account, i was able to login to the client but still couldnt use steam service. friends tab doesnt even tell me what game my friends are playing, cant play / update anything. It works normally on the other account. any ideas? :(

Exactly the same issue for me. Yesterday it was working fine. The only page loading in the client is my library. Store/Community/Profile etc is not loading at all, and in the friend list I can see people are playing something, but it only says "online". Mobile works fine though.
When I try to start a game it says "An error occured while updating ... (no internet connection)", same when trying to download updates.
I think it's something on steam's side though, another PC in the same network works fine. I tried everything, reinstalling Steam, -tcp, firewall and anti-virus off, router reset, nothing worked so we probably just have to wait...

Having the same problem. Working fine a week ago. Now I can't update 2 of my games and therefore can not play this games...
Why is this problem happening? Anyone knows the cause? Any solution?

My GF is having the same issue, When i logged in on my account on her pc however everything was working fine, it seems account specific.

I found a fix for my GF, I went to c:\Users\Profilename\AppData\Roaming\Vale Corporation - here there was a folder called SteamLink, I deleted this signed back in and it worked.
I did before however delete the steam folder in appata\Roaming to no fix before this, but this may have added to this fix.

Id advise saving a copy of each folder before deletion in case of any issue.

Not for me. No Valve Corporation nor SteamLink folder anywhere...
Besides, now I cannot even play up-to-date games. They just open the dialog window trying to apply an unexistent update, and never opens.

found my method, (completely exit steam first) go to steam\userdata and delete the folder that belongs to ur account and open steam again. gl
