If my phone number was leaked can they get into my google account?

Hi, so i noticed recently google allows you to sign into your account with my mobile number. i have added my number as a recovery method for my google account and 2Step Verification. however i am worried since my number has been leaked can they gain access to my google account? since its known.

Thwy would have to spoof your sim card then yes. If they have voice samples then they can use ai voice generation too.

Hackers can clone your SIM card by obtaining the necessary sim cloning device (hardware) and SIM card duplicator app (software) to duplicate the SIM card. This allows them to use your phone number and SIM card on a different device

You cant, phone Tower lets say it that way , only recognize one device, if same numbers connect to it, it will blocked all, and says no signal to your phone

Oh, that's going to drive me nuts because I am thinking of a movie where they did that. It had a very detailed screen (that probably is not how the cloning programs work IRL), where it showed the phone being "scanned" and the "cloning: %" kept climbing, then it said cloning complete.

If your 2step authentication is linked to phone messages/calls then yes. I can't recall the method correctly but I think it was ss7? But that requires a bit of work and if you are not a wealthy individual then there is nothing to worry about

A leak only associates your email with your phone number. It doesn't mean they have access to it, but it's a step closer for the targeter.

You can't clone a SIM card by air. Even if they have a physical access, it is harder than what it was 20 years ago. What they can do is exploit the SS7 network to intercept SMS and calls by using the roaming functionality.

if a phone# sim is cloned, they could get the duplicated sms/txt with 2fa code to log into other things associated with your email
