Steamwebhelper does not respond
Dear Steammembers,

since yesterday i had an issue with steam not showing anything but a black screen an issues with something like "GetPlayer API" being called and not working.

Now i get a Window that shows "Steamwebhelper is not responding.

I tried several things, delete the userdata folder, DISM Checkhealt etc., SFC Scannow, Deinstall steam and reinstall in diffrent folder etc.

Nothing works....

Graphics Driver are updated today and my eventlogs are showing nothing about this issue.

Anyone got help?

My brother has had the same issue. We have been trying to fix it including 2 complete pc resets and still haven't fixed this issue. We did have a brief time where we got steam to open but has come back today an cant seem to fix this issue.

I'm in the same situation. My Steam was working fine until yesterday. I have tried the methods you listed above, but none worked. Though there is a temporary fix to this: https://note.com/vawmemo/n/nd5e9b3046efd
I have tried this method, and it worked, but you have to do it every time you open Steam, which is a hassle.

System specs:
OS: Win11
RAM: 32GB

I deleted files like steamweb, renamed their folders, updated drivers on all hardware, did a clean install of new and old drivers for the video card, reinstalled Windows, installed steam on other hard drives on a clean system, added steam to exceptions, played with compatibility (win7), steam started several times, but after a reboot He didn't work on the computer again. I've been doing this for the second day now, but nothing good is happening.
My Specifications:

msi mag b650m mortar wi fi

1. Open Task Manager and select Open Resource Monitor from the Performance tab to display the Resource Monitor.

2. Keep the "CPU" tab open on the resource monitor and the "Details" tab open on the task manager.

3. Start Steam, do not hesitate, right-click Steam.exe in the process column of the resource monitor → Select "Suspend process". This allows you to ignore Steam's webhelper waiting timer and wait a long time.

4. Then wait until the usage memory of task manager steamwebhelper.exe does not increase. ( 1 ~ 2 minutes in my environment)

** I didn't notice the memory usage change, I just waited a few minutes.

5. Then right-click Steam.exe from the resource monitor → "Resume the process".

This workaround has got it working for some people including myself.
no brood was right the asus crap conflicts with steam did it it fixed it for me

You need to wait till steam webhelper appears before suspending steam.exe

Hello everyone, after a 3-day struggle, I finally succeeded on my side. I saw that every time I turned on my PC, I had Asus Armoury Crate launching at the same time, and after some research, I saw that for some people it could slow down the PC. Being on a desktop PC, I decided to uninstall everything that came from Asus, having only the motherboard from them. I restarted the PC and since then, no more problems launching Steam.
I'm on a desktop PC.
