Something's wrong with Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer
Whenever I try to start up TF2 or ̶a̶n̶y̶ ̶o̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶g̶a̶m̶e̶ in my library, a warning pops up that says "only one instance of this game can be running at a time". Obviously none of my games are running but whenever I try to stop SDK Base it won't shut down. I searched task manager, looked on reddit, and any other support website could but none of them seem to have the problem that I do. It seems to go back to normal whenever I shut off my computer but I don't want to have to do that every time I want to play TF2 Classic. I have it set to previous2021 beta so maybe that's my issue? I tried setting it to another beta but that doesn't work.

Edit: It only affects Valve games.

The instance thing is because you can’t have 2 games with valves engine running at same time so sdk won’t close and it is preventing you from opening other games

I'm not running any other games so I'm not sure what SDK's deal is. I've tried exiting Steam then opening it back up and it still won't work. It seems that whenever I open a game that uses Source SDK Multiplayer, it works fine, but whenever I exit out and try to play another game, then it starts acting up. It goes back to normal every time I turn my PC off then turn it back on but I don't want to do that every time I want to switch to another game.

Did you look in background programs?

You mean clicking tools in the library? If so then I did that. I clicked on the SDK program itself then tried to turn it off but it wouldn't. So I'm not really sure about that. Also I tried looking in task manager.

I meant in task manager, if it was still running as background

OK I just closed all the Steam clients running in TM and that seemed to work. Idk if I was just lazy or if I had no idea what I was looking for but it seemed to do the job.

Edit: It's working now, whenever I close a Valve game and open up a new one nothing pops up. I'm not sure if it'll stay like this but it seems a lot less tedious than shutting off my PC then turning it back on again. Either way, if it happens again I'll just head to TM and end all running Steam tasks.

Thanks.
