Steam vs Discord
A couple weeks ago, i lost my ability to use Voice on Discord when I play or stream a game that has voice chat abilities. I do not use the In Game voice chats and simply use a voice channel on a personal discord server to talk while I play games. Ive had no issue for years with my set up. Recently my voice channel stops working if I play some games. Some games its just fine. It seems that it is only around games that have voice chat features. I have googled and ChatGPT this issue now until my fingers are bleeding, so I am not looking for regurgitated info from someone else doing a search please. Anyone know what is happening? I now have to use my cellphone to discord while I play the games on pc that have voice chat. Never had issues like this for years of steam/discord use.

Help?

Did you check you discord "voice & video" settings that your input and output device are correct?

I sometimes find after i have windows updates or discord updates those settings in discord are set back to default and i have to change them back to my preferred devices for mic and headphones.

Discord has own voice test, how come you do not mention this how that go. and update all PC driver from brand board support i assum it's onboard sound.card.

I dont get it why chatgpt or google dont tell you update your pc.

Disord and steam use OS default sounds,

All apps that using your mic goes by "default device" so if something it change to another input as DEFAULT or as COMMUNICATION then you need to address that in your OS settings, and change to the MIC you want as the MAIN default, this way it tells ALL apps to use said Mic.

Now there is a dumb thing with discord, if you click approve to change input / output devices it will CHANGE on you without your permission creating the problem, and to stop that you have to MANUALLY select the input / output device you want, this way if any changes happen it will ASK if want to change, and you just click NO.

Anyways hope this helps.
