Family Share
Hey! I was wondering if I delete my family group I just made and no one has joined, will I be able to join another one or do I have the 1 yr timer?

Good question. I would assume yes because you created/joined your own family group. I don't think the system takes into account whether or not someone else ever joined it.

The 1-year timer is from the moment you have joined a family group, not when you exit a family group.

Try asking in the Steam Families group discussions:

Got it! Thanks!

As long as you are the only member of the family and no one else ever joined you can disolve the family without triggering the 1 year cooldown and joining another family.
If someone else joined your family, even for just 5 minutes you are stuck with the 1 year cooldown if you disolve it.

Hi, how do you delete a family group. I can't find the option anywhere to leave or delete. BTW I'm using Steam deck.

Go into the Steam client settings, scroll down to "Family".
Then on that screen scroll down to " Manage Family Settings".
Next to each member name is like a double V symbol, click on that and choose "leave family".
If you were the last member that disolves the family.
