Hey everyone! If you play on ultra settings, how loud does your PC get? Do you adjust any graphics settings to reduce noise and lower temperatures?

Just would love to point out that it depends on a lot of factors even with what game cuz some games are obviously cpu based while others are heavier on gpu or even on both

My PC is silent when idle. It's air cooled, but its got enough airflow that I don't need the fans to spin up beyond their silent mode.

I have an XFX 7900 XTX Magnetic Air. It's clocked faster than most XTXs, but reviews say it runs a bit hotter and louder. Even when it's pushed to its limits, it stays pretty cool. Probably cooler than the idle temps in a lot of prebuilt PCs. The fan curve honestly seems a bit overcautious to me.

Yeah, it's a bit louder than I'd have liked, but I wasn't going to spend $1000 on an XTX. That's crazy. I got mine during a minor sale, and that was good enough for me. I might modify the fan curve to be less cautious, but I can't hear the fans over open back headphones, anyway. So that seems a bit pointless.

It depends of the model and the branch. Mine is pretty silent, but the previous one I had (RTX 3070), was way louder due to the coil whine.

In my case, I've never adjusted the graphic settings in order to get less noise. I prefer them to be cooler than having noise in the room.

I have an rx 6900xt and while I am playing Cyberpunk on ultra with 120 fps it’s getting a bit louder for a couple of seconds to get colder. It’s not so bad, but I was curious what are you doing with it

I have a triple-fan AMD RX 7900 XTX. It's the Sapphire Nitro+ model. I also have an entirely air-cooled setup with a Fractal North XL with the mesh side panel. I went a little bit crazy with the fans actually. There are three 140mm Noctua fans doing intake on the front, another 2 140mm fans out the back and the top. I'm not sure if it helps at all, but I put a 140mm Noctua fan in the "basement" of the case facing up towards the GPU. I think the biggest thing for me is the 2 140mm fans I have in the side panel directly facing the GPU and connected to the fan header on the GPU itself. I've seen this kind of air-cooled setup develop a little hotspot directly underneath the GPU thanks to turbulence, and I think that side panel fan setup completely mitigates it.

This was sort of noisy before I adjusted the fan curves, but once I got those dialed in it's whisper quiet. The GPU fans and the fans in the side panel don't turn on at all under idle or a low load. If I start running a game, they do fire up but they stay at a fairly low RPM probably thanks to the enormous cooler of the Nitro+ along with basically 6 total fans focused on the GPU. Thanks to Noctua, my PC doesn't get louder than a gentle breeze.

For me, I fail to see the benefit of FPS that exceeds the refresh rate of your monitor. My monitor is 1440p, 165 hz, so I either enable vsync or otherwise cap the framerate, so depending on the game it doesn't have to work as hard which keeps things a little bit cooler.

I agree, I did the same with caping the framerate to make it not so loud

I never heard my GPU's loudness yet but only the CPU cooler running at 100% for most of the time while gaming. It's be quiet! Silent Loop 2 and on idle it's fantastic. Just under heavy load the fans get loud but I'm used to it.
