Logon woes
So I finally managed to log in..only took me like 11 hours. :(

I have got the steam client installed on 2 computers, a private computer and a laptop belonging to my employer. The logon on my work laptop had expired and I tried to log back in. The authentication mail took forever to arrive and when it did the code just didn't work. I then tried to logon to the forums to look for help but, logon to the forums also failed in the same manner. Eventually I lucked out and now both client work *and* the forum too. Only took me 10+ attempts over 11 hours(had a nights sleep in there as well). Now I have questions..

Guessing a bit here but when I log in to steam, the client does not store my password. The steam network grant me a 'ticket' that gets stored locally. This ticket later is my proof to the network that I have a valid account. This ticket also has an expiry date.

Does anyone know the lifetime of the logon 'ticket'?

I use mail authentication for logon. I get sent an email with a code to confirm my logon. This mail can take a long time to reach me, when I look at the header information much of this time seem to be spent 'internally' within steams servers.

I this just the way it is? Do steam *really* want us to use the app for authentication? Is email authentication semi-deprecated or crappy on purpose?

At least i can tell you my emails arrive instantly. When a code from the mail doesn’t work maybe it’s already expired becaise of delayed delivery.

The latest emails varied a lot, from just under 5 minutes to over an hours.

It's strange that your logon expired. Steam logons don't expire (unless someone with access to the account does something). Quite frankly, that's the strange part here.
You sure about that? My logon will eventually expire on both computers. It happens if I haven't started the steam-client in a good while.
