IS EA Games App / Origin App the same?

So I am wondering if the 2 apps combined to become EA Games? I had an origin account many years ago when it was ORIGIN. I havent used it for ages, but when I played some of my NFS games, and it booted up EA Games by default it used the same profile name as my ORIGIN account?

IS ORIGIN and EAGAMES the same thing or not?
I think they are as it uses the same profile name but wanted someone to either confirm this is correct or not?

Yes, Origin was rebranded, they just don't use that name for it anymore.

Really? I thought I hadnt heard the name Origin for quite some time

Not always. It was just origin but looks like it was rebranded as EA Games

UPlay is still around its for the assassin creed games I believe

UPlay rebranded too, it's now called Ubisoft Connect.

Ahh didnt know that, at least thats not to bad, UBISOFT connect, its kind of the same compared to origin who changed their name completely to EAgames
