Autorun steam and news window
So I have a simple question about steam auto opening with windows. Whenever it auto opens I never see the news window that pops up and shows you new games, on sale games, or free to play games etc. But when I open steam manually it shows it. How can I makes it show when auto running steam.

Remove the /silent parameter from your Steam autoatart reference or manually create one without that parameter.

Disable the Autorin setting in Steam. Press Win+R, paste
shell:startup
and execute. You'll get your autostart folder. Put a link there to your Steam.exe.

I created a shortcut to my steam exe if thats what you were wanting me to do and it still doesn't show the news

It does open up the steam window though! Just not the news. Before it would auto run in the background with the window hidden

Steam > Settings > Interface > "Startup Locaton" > News

Check Settings > Interface > "Notify me about additions or changes to my games, new releases, and upcoming releases" to make sure it is turned on.

Have you ever seen an addition Steam taskbar item labeled "Special Offers?" I've noticed some integrated graphics will not display popup windows properly if at all though the corresponding taskbar item is present. The workaround is to disable "gpu accelerated rendering..." in Settings > Interface.

By chance are you using some type of popup blocker? Popup blockers may cause problems since Steam is based on Chrome.

Here is another long shot but easy to try:
Note: This process may reset all of your Steam settings to default.
  1. Exit Steam
  2. Delete or move to a safe place outside of the Steam folder the "7" folder that is in the userdata folder. By default the location is:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<Steam3 ID>\7
  3. Start Steam
  4. Go to Settings > Interface and verify the "Notify me about additions..." is enabled.
Sorry if none of this helps--can't think of anything else at the moment. In case you are not aware, you can manually view the popup via View > "Update News".
