Steam games accessing IP address blocked by Malwarebytes
I have been getting block messages from Malwarebytes regarding IP address 147.75.193.63 when playing games on Steam.

According to https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/320315-steam-blocked-website/ Malwarebytes has so far decided not to unblock the IP address.

To any Valve employees reading, please get in touch with Malwarebytes ASAP.

That's not a steam issue, but whichever game you're playing that causes that. Valve can't do anything about that.

Actually happening to me in a different game. Googling the IP address has at least one source tying the IP to Valve.

There are tons of people complaining about it across multiple games today.

It's also not just on Steam. I've been having this issue using Game Pass for MWIII for the past month.

The IP getting flagged as compromised is a Valve IP and isn't tied to any one game. I'm getting this with Master Duel, for instance.

I got it with WWE 2k24 and Ghost of Tsushima so it is not game or developer related but a problem with valve?

Sounds more like a problem with "Malwarebytes"?

If you can't just whitelist this, you might have to disable this Malwarebytes-thing until they fix it.

I'm getting it with Disney Dreamlight Valley - same IP address.

Getting a bad feeling, I have just the same AV system, and it's killing all and any game exes with IP "riskware" blocking. I just asked this in a new topic and didn't even notice this one till after. A user named Dan also said in my topic very similar to this that it's the AV's fault at the moment too not too long ago...

My end this is happening to three different computers; two of my own, and also my sibling's PC too.

From what I've read about the issue it's not that Valve/Steam is at risk. Something about the specific IP that is in use has had a history of doing some suspect port scanning and login attempts. That's causing Malwarebytes to err on the side of safety and blacklist the IP as potentially hazardous.

It's kind of like a false positive but since there are credible reports on the IP, it's not. The unfortunate side effect is that it's negatively impacting safe services that just happen to be sharing/using the same IP.

Happening on BG3 too and Revolution. Lots of games it seems. Not sure reading all this if it is really malware or a false positive and who will take care of it either valve or mwb

You just have to make your own decision. Wait it out and see if it resolves, or white list the IP in Malwarebytes and get back to gaming. There are times when AV products go above and beyond to a point where they're shielding customers for no reason.

From the reports the suspicious activity is searching for open ports for the usual services. If your PC isn't running a service or open/forwarded ports, there's no reason to have AV block an IP. Your PC should be behind a modem/router that shields all of your ports from the wide open Internet.

I love how this is a “steam” problem and not “malware bytes is trash”. Malware bytes is getting close to AVG territory if usless

They did cite the reason they blocked the IP addresses.
