Slow download on 1 of my SDD's
A while back I purchased an additional SSD for games. It's a HIKVISION E100 1Tb that I purchased from amazon. However, due to the disk usage being low during a steam download it seems to be bottlenecking my download speeds. I have Gigabit internet, and if I download a game on my other 2 drives I get the full speed. I have tested this by attempting to download the same game on different drives. Only on this newer HIKVISION one do I see issue. The download rate will usually start higher, and then gradually drops inline with the disk usage. The disk usage will usually hover around 15-20 MB/s. I saw on another thread it was suggested to disable hardware caching on the drive, but this didn't help. Does anyone have any experience with these HIKVISION drives, can you offer any other advice?

The main issue is the non existant DRAM-Cache which heavily impacts the performance of SSDs when confronted with IO heavy tasks, like decrypting and decompressing files.
Steam downloads are both encrypted and heavily compressed.

It's not unusual to see performance even below HDDs when performing IO heavy tasks on SSDs without DRAM cache.

Ever wondered why the drive was that cheap? Now you know.
