How can I transfer a ubisoft game to steam without getting an error

every time I try to move a game I follow these steps, I go to ubisoft, I get the product code for one of the games I own, then I go to steam, choose add steam game, click on "activate a product on steam" and then I inser the product code where it tells me to, This method has not worked once, if there's anything I can do please do let me know.

Simple, you don't. Product key for Ubisoft games activate on Ubisoft, not Steam.

Ubisoft does not allow the activation of their games on Steam.

You cant activate games you own on Ubisoft Connect on Steam.
They are only for Ubisofts own client.
If you want to own a Ubisoft game on Steam you need to buy it directly on the Steam Store.
All retail keys are just for the Ubisoft Connect client.
