Steam blue screens when opened
Steam blue screens my PC/laptop upon opening, BUT I have a 2 TB portable hard drive that has all of my Steam games. Steam works completely fine when it not plug in,but when I plug in my hard drive Steam will blue screen 90% of the time.
I really hope someone know how to fix this, I really do NOT want to re-download all of my games

EDIT : This started yesterday or two days ago for people on the other side of the world

That would indicate the external drive is somehow at fault.

Try this:
1. Have Steam closed.
2. Connect the external drive.
3. Press Win+R to open the RUN dialog and enter cmd and press Ctrl+♥♥♥♥+Return/Enter to launch a command line window with administrative rights. Answer yes when Windows asks you if you want to do that.
3. Enter chkdsk E: /F and press Enter/Return
This will start a integrity check and if errors are found, they'd be fixed as far as the tool can.

This can take a while, so just let it run until it is finished.

Exfat is not NTFS, ask steam linux own group, im not sure you can have a ntfs and exfat, sense they dont have same system rigths.
Utter nonsense. You can freely mix FAT, EXFAT, and NTFS even on the same drive if you want to. It's true that every partition must have ONE of those for Windows, but if you have multiple partitions on a drive, you can also have different file systems.

Additionally, there is also the USB "man in the middle" which would act as a translation layer anyway.

Steam is as much a victim as you are.
There is no component of Steam that runs on a software level that could directly cause a bluescreen.

In the bluescreen or Windows event log, are there and filenames or STOP codes mentioned?

Considering a portable drive is involved, that may point towards USB or instability due to power spikes when connecting the drive. Is the external drive HDD or FLASH/SSD based?

There is a STOP code : EXFAT FILE SYSTEM and my 2TB hard drive is a SSD
Again, I would use symbolic links pointing towards Drive C to fix this issue.
