I’m downloading a game right now. If I reset download cache will my download be lost?

As the title says will I lose my download progress? I’ve waited hours for a game to download (beamng drive btw) I have a good pc and I’ve downloaded many high gigabyte games (like csgo and tf2 kinda high but yeah) with no issues. I’m really stuck and don’t wanna wait another 4 hours.

Thanks people. I’ve waited 6 ******* hours since I started the download and no one responded to help me. It’s been two hours since I posted this. By this comment you can see how very happy I am that someone didn’t take a minute to help someone. Am I just irrelevant and other people are just worth your help? I’m not a smart person as I’m posting for help. But I’m smart enough to see other people helping others. I know this comment is very passive aggressive but I just feel frustrated that no one helped 2 hours. I’m not gonna check this for a while so if you do help thanks.

It's possible just nobody has an answer for you?
Maybe if you'd explain the issue you're having rather than asking a specific question, you might get some answers?
Is your download stuck? Is it slow? Are you trying to restart it or are you trying to avoid restarting it? You don't make any of that clear.

Here’s something simpler then. If I’m downloading a game, and I clear download cache. Does the game restart the download when I have logged back in?

YES if you clear the cache you start over, problem is lan transfer enable fool ppl now and you can fetch data from other pc already have it.

This is why its complicated and not just YES and NO anymore.

I could have said just NO, but then you wont learn my old pc had the game and i fetch it there fast on own lan speed then a small wan line, so now you get it, its not that simple anymore

Even MS windows update use it
its a section under update delivery optimization or something like that, dont forget i have a local windows just like all others, this is the new ways get files from remote source faster ( and who cares with the data security there is today.

If you wanted a quick answer then you should have googled it. The first result says yes clearing the cache means you lose anything you've downloaded, because unsurprisingly, Steam downloads the files to the cache first before installing.

Alr thank you! All of your responses were very helpful. In the future I will take this in mind. My download was glitching and a response was to reset download cache.
