Steam Deck Install of EXE. Game files

Hello, fellow Steamers. I'm hoping some of you experts and fellow gamers with your brilliant minds can help me out with my Steam Deck. Here is the problem. First, I'm not used to the Steam Decks' operating system. I have always been a gamer on windows. With that said, I wanted to move my games from my old PC to the Steam Deck. So, I moved some of my GOG game files onto an SD card and installed them onto the Steam Deck. I added the EXE. file as a non-Steam game, and then I installed the game. No problem: the game installed. I was able to play it with no problems. I had no problem installing and playing. Here is where the problem lies. The game installs, but after I play it and shut it off, the next time I go to play it, I have to install the whole game over again. It does this with every non-steam game. Now, I know how to play games on Epic Game store and such, but I want to play my downloaded game files on Steam. Obviously, it can be done because I installed them and played them. My problem is keeping the game installed so I don't have to install it over and over again. Thanks in advance. I hope one of you geniuses can help me figure it out. Thanks so much.

Much easier just to use the Heroic Launcher or Lutris. They do everything for you.

Edit: Both are available on the Discovery store.

I tried lutris but it errored and is missing some wine part that wont install.
