I also know it was not doing this on Thursday, so whatever is going on is new.
Edit: Hitting ctrl+shift+esc (Or just open task manager your way) to open task manager. Steam.exe may show as unresponsive. If so, this may be your issue. Esp if it's frequently going unresponsive.

Another possibility if someone encounter the issue is where client becomes slow, or has issue is because of 3rd party antivirus set to scan application either repeatedly, or that it doing deep scan that messing with app how it functionality.
Anyways if app working as intended by switching out of beta, then means latest update is an issue, but beta often get updates, so give, or take if an issue occurs, or not with beta.
I'm just really glad it has helped others because it took me hours to troubleshoot everything, which I wanted to get some things updated anyhow :D

@ Dr. Shadows, I don't know enough about that stuff. I wish I did but I'd probably get another case of information overload. lol Whatever specifics about it is going bad, I do hope they get it worked out. Mine did happen after a steam update though.
