How to remove yourself from a family share?
So I'm in a family share (as a client) with someone I don't talk to anymore and never replies to any of my attempts to contact them. I want to be removed from their family share, is there any way to de-authorize my computer from their share without actually having them do it?

Steam > Settings > Family > Manage Other Computers

I've tried that, I don't need to de-authorize someone else, I need to be deauthorized from being able to use someone else's games. (but still, thank you :) )

So did the person give you their login info to do this (It sounds like this is someone you know only from online)? I thought family sharing required that the sharer log in to the computer at least once.

They had me log in as them to set it up, I don't remember their information though otherwise yes I'd have done that to remove myself

Make a post about it in the family sharing discussion?

If you can't get your friend to de-authorise your account, you will need to de-authorise the PC.

Refreshing Steam's files should work. Since Steam will consider the new install to be a new device, it won't be authorised for your friends games any more.

this is a super old question but for anyone who's looking this up, all you have to do is uninstall steam and reinstall it :)
That only partially clears it on your end.

My understanding is that it's pretty much impossible to do it without access to the other machine.

You first have to deauthorize all devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
Then, log out of Steam, go to steam/config installation folder, delete config.vdf , then restart Steam.
But the sharing history will always remain.
