HDD's are roughly all the same size and designed to fit in the same way. If you have an empty space for an HDD in your case, then it will fit.

How can I know if I have an empty space for an hdd case? I thought you removed the old HD and put the new in its place

That would depend entirely on how many HDD bays are free.

If you are talking about a laptop, then yes you would need to remove the old one because they very rarely have more than one HDD.

How do I know if I have free HDD bays? And if i have several HDDs will they all share the information stored on them? Like if i have 2 HDDs with 300gbs will my pc say: you have 600gb?

And I have desktop

Your OS will see two disks, both 300GB.

It will only see a single 600GB disk if you have a RAID controller configured to stripe the two 300GB disks.

And if someone knows, whats the difference of replacing and adding an extra HDD? Whats best? Shouldnt adding be best because you get extra storage or what?

The setup that I prefer is to have a fast but small disk for my OS and apps (128GB SSD or similar) and a 500GB-1TB~ HDD for storing files and installing games.

This way, Windows boots super fast, is very responsive and all my applications open instantly, but I still have slower storage for junk (videos, games, photos etc.)

And how does this work? Do I simply have to open another folder when launching games stored on the other HDD?

You shouldn't have to open a folder to launch games at all. Games usually create shortcuts when installed, or just launch from your Steam library.

should always fit
