[solved] Overlay does not work with PCSX2
It seems that the steam overlay doesn't work with the emulation of pcsx2 games. Already try to google it, but can't finde anything about it.

What i try to do is, that steam makes for these non-steam games a screenshoot folder. The only way to get these screenshoot folder is to activate the overlay/making a screenshoot. . For ps2 iso's the overlay is not working.. are they any work arounds?

[sorry for bad englsih it is not my nativ language]

--------------------------------------------
use directly the pcsx2 exe or compile a bat file with "slimm bat to exe" into a exe file. When you now start this exe with steam the overlay will work!

Thanks goes to Vaemer-Riit for the help!

PCSX2 launches the actual game in a different process than the one that Steam launches from a shortcut.

Use Fraps (free version will do fine) instead for taking screenshots.

well, that explane a lot, thank you!

But what if, i want to have a background for each non-steam ps2 game? How do i get these steam screenshot folder without using the overlay?

The only way to do it would be to create a shortcut to a non-Steam game where the overlay does work, take a screenshot, then replace the screenshot file with one of your PS2 game, then rename the shortcut and change the EXE to whatever that game is.

This sounds so good,..sadly, it does not work :/

There was no problem so far, i was able to uploade after replacing the image. But it does not appear as background after that. Already try to restart, nothing :/

Weird I had PCSX 2 running through steam and I could take screenshots and open the overlay just fine with it.

ok, i see how you did it ^^

the problem for me is, i use a .bat file to boot up all my ps2 games. It seems you use directly the pcsx2.exe. I tested it right now, and it is working :)

D3D9 Hardware rendering is what I had it on at the time but D3D11 Hardware rendering also works. (I just tested both with PCSX 2 version 1.0 and I was able to bring up the overlay in both.

Well have you tried making an autoit script to do what the batchfile does and then compile the script into an exe?

http://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit/

I used to use this to build autologin programs for MMOs at a lan center I worked at but it also will work in the place of a batchfile and once compiled should allow steam to follow the exe files to the correct window.

it's not hard. if you post the batch file I can easily convert it to autoit script for you. Then I send it back to you and you can compile it.

i already knwo what to do ^^ just BAT to EXE Converting... i guess it is easier as i thought!

This is a realy great help and very uniqe on the internet! No search results for this pcsx2 overlay problem coming up with this solution! Thank you very much!

Yah basically you rewrite your batchfile in the autoit script instead of batch script and then compile it.

There is an API at the autoit site that list all if the functions and how they work in case you get stuck.
