Steam not working after complete PC reformat

Hi ive just decided to reformat my PC, making a clean install again of windows 7 (spring cleaning kinda thing =P ), ive had a working steam before hand, however now, all the games that i have downloaded again after the reformat, are not able to launch... i get error codes, messages from all ends:

Dota: "steam client is missing or out of date"

Star Wars the Force Unleashed Sith Edition: "The Star Wars: Force Unleashed Sith Edition has failed to start (error code 53)"

Star Wars Empire at War gold pack: "failed to contact key server"

Xrebirth: tries to launch (the actual steam window saying: "preparing to launch Xrebirth" pops up but then just dissapears)

Nvidia Geforce GTX 550ti
Intel I-5 3550
windows 7 (fresh install, mostly updated, Important updates only)

honestly i cant be sure if it isnt my rig, but my hunch is that i might have to open up the steam ports on my firewall again (although a reformat shouldnt affect the ports already established). i havent even installed a virus scanner, or any other program, this is honestly the cleanest PC i could make it... so im a bit surprised to see that none are working...

Is Steam installed? Dota is hinting to it missing.

yeah steam is installed, i downloaded said Dota through it

things have developed, since several restarts... ive come to a point where Dota, Xrebirth, and Star Wars Force Unleashed all function for now, the only one still not functioning is Star Wars Empire at War gold pack

ah ♥♥♥♥... its the curse of precaution.... seems like steam didnt buy enough game keys in anticipation too the Star Wars franchise sale... im stuck with Star Wars Empire at War, and Star Wars Battlefront 2 without game keys for a while... oh well... and i found the issue with the previous games... cracked pirated games, have a steam bypass of sorts... usuall the steam.apli file that prevents steam from recognizing the game (dont really know the details) but even after the game has been exited and such that steam bypass from the cracked game still functions... preventing me from starting any game through steam... it only works again after i have restarted the PC.
