I don't know about "G2A" specifically, but there are "legitimate" shops such as Greenmangaming or the bundlesites, and there are other stores that are a bit more... "flexible" when it comes to taking your money and giving you something in return.
I'd recommend more legitimate sites such as greenmangaming, gamefly and gamersgate. If you try buying from less legitimate places you run the risk of getting ripped off

So I think it's legit.
Also if you bought a key from a third party, Valve/steam is not liable if the key doesn't work, you'll have to work it out with the vendor/person that sold you the key.
