Steam Voice Chat Problems
Hey guys,

I'm using my Astro A50s on my PC, for months its been fine, but now everytime I voice chat it shows a red line throuh my mic, it wont connect, and for the people I'm chatting with it shows red bars. The computer and steam recongize both my mice and headset, the internet connecting isn't a problem, and all cords are connected. The headset works fine on Skype.

Thanks for any help guys,
Jozy

Just chiming in to say I'm having this exact problem. 360 mic on 360 controller on Windows 8.1. Same bars, same slashes, same Skype working. Assigning ports has not helped.

FWIW I can't seem to host games in Civ anymore either.

I had this issue and fixed it by shutting down one of my steams. Meaning, I had Steam open on both my PC and laptop...both logged into the same account. Upon shutting down steam on one system, my chat starting working suddenly on the other.

Astro's gaming headsets have a great customer support. Astro's line of A40s, A30, and A50s before during an before 2013 have issues dealing with PCs and consoles. This line has released headsets compatible for both Xbox and PC. Being a hefty $250 for Astro A40s /w Mix Amp +, Astro has made PC only Astro lines which are cheaper. The 2013 Astro Headsets had issues working with PC even though previously there were fine. 2014, Astro launched headsets that were franchise endorsed like the Xbox one exclusive headset etc. With this they also released a new PC only headset that features new lines stripes and an in-line mix. Unlikr the previous PC only headset, this one actually was different, not just stripped of an amp. They also fixed PC issues with this. Fix: |Hardware| - Buy new Astros. Consult a proffesional or maybe alternatives|, Firmware also might needed to be updated on your headset, Check for windows updates, Check Steams list of Programs that interfeere with steam (TS and Skype), Check microsoft sound board (located in search panel >Sound) and check if you are using the right ports, if you are using a voice changer or a program that channels your hat, check it, Check to see if your problem is recent and what have you done to cause it (Check download history), Check to see if yur headset works on other devices, check to see if it is a wireless problem, check in-game settings, Gpu/ GC updates, and more. If you would like to know more refer to me at the following- Go to steam profile> send friend request> message me. For future tips; When on the forums or submittig a ticket, information is always good. State your OS,Setting, Model, brand, date it started happening, attempted fixes, and PC specs.

Please, if you have not fixed it yet, explain to me what you mean by red lines etc.
