Steam voice chat not working, mic and volume levels flashing red.

I try to call my mate and he either never recieves the call or he does and when he answers it acts as if nothing happened on my end. If he calls me however, it will connect but the volume bars and such will flash red and neither of us can hear anything.

I realise there may be a thread about this already but PLEASE do not delete this one, I have searched for a long while to see if there was a solution and most posts about this seem to go unanswered.

Well, try with sndrec32 if your microphone is working at all.

I'm having the same problem War. This is frustrating and it doesn't seem to be an epidemic. It's probably on our end.

Yeah our microphones are working fine.

I think it might have something to do with NAT type changing? I noticed I couldn't play co-op in Deadspace 3 because I had a strict nat type.. even though it used to be open the day before.

i had the same issue i fixed it when i realize tat i was logged on 2 pc using streaming

I thought I had posted on here what fixed my issue, but apparently not.

In the end for me it was a NAT type issue, fixed by both my mate and I resetting our modems.
