steam having problems connecting to server

Hi, guys. i will need some help on this.

Basically, my iMac is working fine. but i was trying to reduce some ping. so i used something called Hotspot Shield for free. But it does not help, and what's worse is it is routing me through US since i'm in Australia, which makes me lag with more ping.

So i decided to uninstall it. but the worst thing happened. when it's uninstalled,(using the uninstall from the install package). i can't connect to steam.

I was thinking it might be the steam settings, so i tried to use my iPhone personal hotspot using 3G internet, but i can actually connect to steam with it.

so i feel like it's about my internet settings. so i delete all of it. but it does not work for me at all...

really need some help....

i'm living in a big house with a few routers.

is it possible that this hotspot shield changed some settings of the router? which makes no sense to me tho, since i have no access to the router...i don't know the username and password..

so...i'm out of ideas. need help.

Hotspot shield is a vpn, it will install a driver for you and a connection profile you should delete those 2 in order to get steam back to normal.
Or you can use "time machine" to restore your OSx to the settings it had before installing hotspot shield.

well...i was going to use "time machine" but, i realized that i never make any back up..before...
and it's wired that my macPro has the same problem. exactly same.
is this because i'm using the same Apple ID? or it's something about the router..or something..

one more problem is..how do i delete those 2 files...i don't know where to find it...

and also i don't understand..if it's the files problem...why i can connect to steam using my mobile internet..
