AD Blocker for steam?

As someone who uses firefox i have few addons that block the adds including those annoying youtube pop-ups, now when someone links a youtube video here on steam it isn't filtered and there are those annoying ads all over again...is there a way to get rid of them? like making the links to open in my browser instead of new steam window or something?

The web browser Steam uses is NOT Firefox. He is asking for an adblocker addon for the WebKit browser in Steam.

Use a hosts file, it works on ALL browsers and apps.

1) Download http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.zip
2) Extract HOSTS
3) Go to Windows\System32\drivers\etc
4) Replace hosts with HOSTS
5) Reboot
6) Enjoy ad free videos forever

reboot isnt necessary, changes to hosts is taken when the file is replaced or saved

I don't usually block ads on Youtube.
But when I do it's because video ads were appearing right in the middle of what I was watching.

That is the directory. The hosts file is in the etc folder.

No it won't. It's a modified HOSTS file that redirects requests to known ad servers and prevents them from completing, effectively blocking ads from displaying in any browser.

Windows does not allow to replace the hosts file without shutting down the system file protection - and off system file protection will do more harm than persuasive advertising...

I have an issue, whenever I click something in the steam web browser, I always get a fullscreen pop-upw and since steam doesn't let you close extra windows, I have to not be able to trade or anything, it's REALLY angering
