Send Coupon To Friends New Account?

A friend of mine recently registered with steam. I have a coupon for a discount on a game he is looking for, but it doesn't let me trade with him (I think for 30days because its a new account) any suggestions on how he can access the coupon or I can send it to him?

Thanks alot, I did option one, I bought the game for him and he can either give me the money or buy a game for me sometime lol.
