Xbox 360 wireless receiver code error 43

Im not sure if the hardware is broken as the light is still flashing on the receiver, but now in device manager i am getting Code error 43 (Unknown usb device, device descriptor failed.) I dont get the options usually associated with seting up the receiver. Does any one know how to fix this? it was working perfectly till this morning. thanks

I've only heard about this when you update to windows 8.1. Did you recently update? If not then i have never seen this happen with the wireless receiver.

i'm having the same issue, yes i have windows 8.1U1, but it started giving me the error just today. Restarting the computer allow the receiver to work for few minutes, then it dies again. I think it's simply broken...

no its not mate after long time of trial and error, it came down to a duel solution for me, i reinstalled all motherboard drivers and also switch the computer of at the wall to drain the cmos battery worked like a charm in the morning

Same problem here (Code 43 on Win8.1U1) - but it gets even stranger:
Usually, after some tries of Installing and uninstalling the (W7) software and/or drivers the adapter is recognized again. UNTIL I unplug and replug it again, or reboot the computer (standby seems to be ok!)
The USB port doesnt matter, and the receiver works fine on several other machines. AARGH!

i think it is wholey to do with the mother board drivers, somthing becomes corrupt has happened a few time since i posted this
