Big Picture flickering screen
I just bought an Asus Gaming laptop that has a Nvidia GTX 860m GPU.
Anywy....big picture looks awful, and keeps flickering on me.

Anyone have the same issue? Is there a fix for it?

To Pidge: As near as I can tell, Display Scaling is enabled when you are connecting the laptop to another display. This is from my default laptop screen.

My Laptop has an Intel HD 4600 and Nvidia 740m Graphics.
The Flickering happened when i was running steam with Nvidia.
When i switched and Used the Intel Graphics for Steam, the Flickering problem went away.
So try using your Integrated Graphics card.

Poking my head back in to note that running Steam under the integrated card works for me, too. Big Picture doesn't run at quite so nice a resolution, but it runs without flickering, which is definitely an improvement. :-)

Yea everything was working fine for me with the Nvidia Dedicated card, but after i updated the drivers, it started flickering.

Use the Nvidia control panel....to switch to the intel gpu....I took that advice and it works great now....haven't had any problems and there wasn't any flickering.

I just got my laptop with geforce gtx 860m with the 337.88 driver and this happens on my main laptop screen, (this also happens in some games eg. minecraft). and running games on the integrated graphics card is not why i got the 860m :/. seems to me like it is an issue with OpenGL. Maybe in the latest nvidia drivers (for laptops)?

I have the same issues with my MSI GE60 (GTX860M) connected to a HDTV.

I have a 325m, I got the described issue by watching streams with automatical background dimming, I guessed it has to be a video codec problem. Haven´t tried Big Picture yet but I´m pretty sure it´s the same issue.

You can still have all your game use your dedicated card. Just have steam using intel hd.

Just downloaded the 340.52 Drivers, and switched Steam over to using the Nvidia card rather than the integrated card ...

And it works! Big Picture runs without flickering, in crisp 1080p. If the person who fixed the bug is watching this thread: thank you very much :-)

I just got an ASUS X550L with the GeForce840M. It only flickers when I open a game at the library. I tried looking for updates but everything says I'm up to date. I have been kinda out of the PC world for a while. I don't know if I have to change some settings or something.

NVidia Users should Update to the latest Driver Version, it gets rid of the flickering in Big Screen Mode!

I have an ASUS N56JN-MB71 laptop with a NVIDIA GEFORCE 840m graphics card and an intel i7 processor and I'm having the same problems. I've never really messed with the graphics settings on a pc before, would you mind explaining how to set it so that the integrated runs the big picture mode and the nvidia runs everything else?

I haven't been using it for a while, but you adjust the settings directly in the Nvidia control panel. You might be able to find a step by step tutorial on Youtube.....if not, let me know....and I'll try to help out more later.
