Friends Don't Receive Chat Invites
When we send friends invitations to chat rooms, they only get them sometimes but usually don't receive them at all. This has been going on for years. What is the solution? I'm sick of spending hours trying to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fix this when all we want to do is play a game.

I'm talking about setting up multi-person chat rooms. You know, the feature where you click "invite to chat", and it creates a chat room. Been a part of steam for all of it's existance.

When you send invites to people they only get them sometimes, and there is seemingly no solution if they're not receiving them.

Of course they're online... where is steam support? Why have they been ignoring this constant issues for years?

never happened to me.. all i can think of is they turned off their notifications, but i guess it wouldn't make sense.

No that wouldn't make sense, and this happens all the time with every person I've ever met. The chat room says invitations are sent, but the recepient never gets them. Or if they get it the first time, and accidentally close the window or reboot their computer or something - they no longer receive the invitations.

Where is steam support? Why is this being ignored?

Stop trolling with non-solutions. This is a feature in Steam and I want to know why it is not working, as nobody wants to set up a billion other pieces of external software.

possible reasons: 1). they were already in a chat room. when you are in one chat room, you don't recieve incites to others
2). they have something over the invite and just don't it.
3). i remember one time my friend was inviting me to a chat and i couldnt join it cause i was in a game. i had to alt+esc. to join it

It's definitely none of those reasons, Thunder. At the time of the post, the person had simply accidently closed the chat window that we were all in and needed to be re-invited. He was not in any other rooms and had no other chat windows up. I had him close everything several times to be sure.

There wasn't anything that would have been covering where the chat invite box pops up.

The steam overalay and chat works in game. you push shift tab to bring it up. If this prevents the invites from appearing, it needs to be fixed. However, this can't be the case - because all of us are able to join these rooms when in games via the chat overlay (when it works).

well there are other people who have had this issue.. but most of the forums i found were in 2012. i don't think there is a solution to that, even thought i've never had a problem, but like i said i rarely use steam chat. i prefer skype.
