Where does Steam save the library folders?

As we all know Steam can add different libraries. But in what file or what place does it store the paths? Does anyone know that?

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\

[without the (x86) if you're on a 32-bit OS.]

That's the default path, other paths are made by you. Can be seen under Steam -> Settings -> Downloads -> [Steam Library Folders]

You misunderstand. I am looking for the config file it is stored in. I want to parse it with a self written application. I looked through various files of Steam, but was unable to find it.

Config file for what? Steam files are in the steam folder as already stated. Exactly what file are you looking for? there is no 1 single "config" file for steam. That isnt how it works.

It is indeed in there, dunno how that slipped past me last time I looked into that file.
It is actually at the bottom.

I know this is an old thread but you can also find the library folder paths more specifically in

Steam\steamapps\libraryfolders.vdf

this is all thats in my Library folders it comes up as a word document I need to set the dang thing to online because it wont freakin update "LibraryFolders"
