Can you collect steam trading cards through family shared games?

Lets say I want to play dead island (this is just an example) But its a game my friend owns and I still need to buy it but can play it anyway because my friend has shared his games with me. Will it also collect the trading cards as well??

Nope. I'm sure Valve already predicted the amount of abuse that would happen. If you want the cards you have to buy the game.
