Steam Library collection size
What's the size of your Steam Library? Do you keep all of your games installed?

Of course not.

I don't really know how much space will be enough for Steam Library partition.

I have 1TB and was wondering if a 700GB partition (Steam only) would be enough.

Depends on whether or not you ant to install every game and the sizes of the games.

I keep a few key games installed and then install/uninstall as I go. Currently at 560 games in my library, only a small number of which are installed at any given moment.

I had 500GB when I first started my collection few months ago, and I thought it was a lot, until I realized games like COD Ghosts, Assassin's Creed IV and Max Payne 3 was like 30+ GB each, and now there is titan fall with 50GB.

So now I had buyer's remorse about not spending the extra cash for a 2TB drive.

about 250 games here and about half of them installed (slow internet is the only reason i keep many games installed i don't actually play anymore)

You do know that you can split your library (i.e. install some games in another folder than your steam installation is in)?

Let's say I want to format my computer and I have all of my Steam Library on a second drive. After I clean install Windows, all I have to do is point the Steam Library folder to Steam, right?

That way every time I want to move to a larger drive, all I need to do is copy the Library to the new drive and point the Steam Library folder to Steam, right?

basically yes, steam checks what games are there and "downloads" them new, but doesn't actually download anything, just checks if the installation is complete

I see. I have a fast internet connection, download 8-10MB/s, so I was going ok with a smaller drive, though I really got excited with the idea of a huge collection of installed games.

ya, it's kind of nice to have that many games installed. when you're bored you can just check out some old game (or one in the backlog you didn't get around to play for one reason or another) and start playing.
Even with 10MB/s you have to wait some amount of time before it's loaded and by then you usually have found something else to do/play :)

Only 15-20 are installed at any one time.
