Steam is offline?

I was playing Payday 2 and my steam went offline, it still says offline. How can I get it back online? I tried restarting my computer but its still offline.

Same here. I can't login from my application, but I can from the website.

Might explain why matches the last few hours have felt laggy to an extreme. Can't even connect now. Maybe ah forgut mah passwordz?! Or maybe they need to get it back up so I can get my fix on again!

I checked on my phone and mobile steam works, but my steam client says No Connection, I am in North America, are people in other parts of the world able to connect? Maybe too many people are online like what just happened with HBO's true detective.
