Low Violence Versions
Hello Valve!

Im a 33 year old from Germany and I DO NOT want to buy any Low Violence Versions of good games anymore (just like Left 4 Dead and Southpark - Stick of Truth).

I am an adult and I am legally allowed to buy any uncensored version I want to.

So why, please why, dont you finally introduce a way to your Steam Software, to find out, if a user is a grown-up or not?

Id even ♥♥♥♥ing pay money for that service! Hellooooo anyone listenening?

These games, with half the content missing, are soooo annoying.

Because it's easy to fake or forge papers from others, if you bother to do that : you do not have to disclose your real identity when making a Steam account, and could therefore snatch anyone's papers, provided they are adults, and wave it in front of Steam saying "Hello ! That's me !"

I'd bet Valve would get in extra trouble if Germany government find out that a kid had access to an uncensored version because of "leniency" (like if they could be strict to begin with...).
Since they already ban uncensored games for minors, I'd guess Steam wouldn't be allowed to operate in Germany AT ALL if they find out.

A quick fix was therefore to force censored versions to every german user out there. That way, they take no risks.

So, it'd be up to your government, rather than Valve, unless you have a 100% accurate verification up and running (and i DO mean 100%, so that NO ONE could abuse such a system in ANY way)

Guess what?

There are other Services, that work fine, too.

Just like Amazon Prime Video, for example. Or similiar services.

They make an adult check, hand-out a PIN to the adult owner of an account. That works fine and they wont get into trouble, because they have done, what they can do.

If a child still gets access to adult games, then its the fault of the person who made the adult-check in the first place.

Plus:

In other countries, children arent allowed to play adult games either. But only Germany gets censored games, while all other nations are allowed to play the real uncut ones.

As if other nations would not protect their children from adult media.

Thats just wrong. I am an adult, so let me buy the US version of a game. Whats so difficult about that?
Isn't your government in control of censoring games? I don't think Steam can do much.
Guess what? Valve does not read these forums. If you want to change things start by changing the laws in your country.

Yes indeed. However, publishers and shops are ALSO entitled to not sell them to you.

Basically, get such games elsewhere. Non-german shops give you the full version -- if Steam doesn't want our money, they won't get it (except for the part that they get anyway because it's a Steam game).
Because it would be the same deal with porn sites.

"You must be 18+ to access this site"

ENTER - LEAVE

What do you think an underage person is going to press?

Sorry Laptop65, but youre not listening.

There are Services on the Internet... very big ones... just like Amazon Prime Video.

They support all of us with Video on Demand, even adult movies. How do they do that? They have a check system (not just a question: are you 18+) that makes sure, the guy in front of the computer, passing the test right now, is an adult.

I request Valve to boost up their own sales in Germany, by giving us the chance, to pass such a test and get uncensored games.
I imagine the red tape to get something like that done costs way too much to be worth doing just for one country. It sucks but I think you should be blaming your government and not Valve for this issue.

Valve is a business which means their goal is to make money. It must not be profitable enough to do what you are asking.

Then you'll want to post in the suggestions section on the forums for your idea.

And underage folks can always get around a adult filter if they really want to.
Thats right Muppet.

I wish Valve would do that.
Why pay for violence in games if you can get it for free on the internet, news and such... we should be pushing for the opposite, more non-violent games, not the other way around. No matter what country you live in...
I love violence Games :p
you must love trolling just as much...
