Family Sharing is kicking me off when the other person is playing games that we both own. Is that supposed to happen?
He is playing Garry's mod (which we both own) and i can't play payday 2 (which he owns). Because we both own the game so it doesn't show up as a shared game then shouldn't it not kick me off?

If he is playing a game in his Library (In this case, Gary's Mod) then you cannot play any of his games. That is the way it works. You share the Library as a whole, not on a game by game basis.

Doesn't work like that..

Family sharing is for ALL the library of games on that account.

Beat me to it ^^ ;)

hmm. then why doesn't it let him play my garry's mod instead of his thus not playing a game from his library.
Because it knows he owns the game most likely.

Have you authorize your computer and then allowed your friend to use your library?

go to Steam > Settings > Family

yes he can see my games but it only shows the ones that he doesn't own which is annoying.

It should do. Is he choosing the one in his library, or the one in your library? If it's definately the one in YOURS then it may be it default to the local rather than external if you both own it.

The thing is is that under the list of his games it doesn't show the ones that i already own as well.
