Activation problem gift.

I have the same problem right now. It seems the steam servers had some kind of problems yesterday, though I'm not sure if that is still the case. So what I did was to write a Steam ticket and hopefully they can solve the problem.
If they can't solve it, you can still reverse the money if you paid via PayPal or something similar. You should probably also try to contact the support of the site where you bought it.

Same problem here. Got the gift activation link yesterday, tried yesterday, tried today. I've sent a ticket to steam support hoping they would help. Probably it's an issue for everyone
