I don't know what errors and issues you are having,
I unfortunately do not know how to fix your issue. Don't waste your time with the Better Business Bureau, though. Valve doesn't care what they think, and the BBB has become something of a scam these days--companies essentially pay to get their seal of approval. If there is a problem with the Square Enix account, you should contact their support. If the problem is on Steam's end, you should contact Steam support.
FFXIV isn't just a game with a 3rd party DRM. It's an MMO with a monthly fee.
When you right click on the game in your library, is there an option to view the CD Key?
I connected my Steam Account with Square Enix and it won't let me manually input the code (The CD Key from Steam) from there either.
I had a problem similar to this with Anno2070 and the Tech Support at Anno 2070 took so long that I gave up. (about 2 weeks)
I'm just tired of wasting money...
From what you're describing it sounds like the issue is with Square, not Valve or Steam. Valve's responsibility bascially ends with the fact that the game you bought ended up on your account. If you can't get your old account info or it isn't letting you input a code you need to talk to Square, not Valve.

This company needs to be banned from America...
If a company can not afford to provide customer service for it's product in another country, then it has no business operating in that country at all...
I can see how this would mess up the Registration process. Game is actually reeally good. They put a lot into the storyline. Maybe I'll make it above level 30 this time. XD
