How do I message someone who's not in my friends list?

I would like to get one of the coupons that others are trying to give away, but I can't seem to locate the method to contacting them without sending a "Friend" request. Do I need to do that?

Some friends deliver and some friends are sincere... either way they're friends and I usually contact them on a common ground thru a request. We have much to discuss which is why Steam is more than just games and fun. My Steam friends are more important bar none.

Add friends or join group chats and message them.

I know this is odd. I am old school. I still send letters in the mail. I have 2 cell phones, a tower PC and a laptop.

Do you want to know how to make friends on steam or how to send a friends request?

If you want to add someone, you right click on their profile picture or nickname and select send friend request. You can also go to their profile page and add them there on the top right corner of the page.

In some games you can press shift+tab I believe to open the steam overlay and click on "see players" to see who's playing that match and add them through there.


One piece of advice, be careful, because people on the internet will abuse your trust.

Imagine all the missed connections! I never get hatemail anyway, this isnt xbox
think of all the people who wouldve wanted to be your friend, or vice versa

im not paying 5 dollars everytime i make some throwaway steam account just to play some random game that requires steam

you should be able to talk to others, and putting that behind a paywall is evil and stupid
