Notice: Purchases made in Thailand are only playable in Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.
What the hell is this? The main reason I have steam is because im stationed here in Thailand for another year or 2. Now I start seeing this posted in some of my games! That means my entire collection won't work when I get back home?

REMOVE THIS NOW

Steam is the only way for me to legally obtain games! If I can't enjoy them around the world, then I might be required to find a new place to shop!

Talk to the support and explain them your situation.
Region locking needs to die in a fire and then die in a fire again.

Same here.. I am based in Bangkok and just saw this message.
Ridiculous thing is that I will just end up using a VPN like you need to for Origin.
The fact that I didn't need to for Steam was one of the key selling points.
Bad move Valve.. Very bad move.

Publishers set locks on products. Steam simply enforces the decisions from the publisher.

Go scream at the publiseher

Satoru..
I am British.. I am not Thai.
Does this mean I am breaking my regional restrictions for playing games I bought legally in the UK when living in Thailand? Do I need to purchase them all again?

I'll tell you one thing, VPN is definitely not the solution.

Most likely to stop people from USA to buy in Thailand since their prices are way lower. People would abuse this so much.

He doesn't have to work for Valve to know that you need to contact Steam Support in order for them to allow you to use your UK -billing in Thailand.

So what's your problem then? If you buy games from the UK store, they won't be region restricted.

Read the Original Post. This thread is about Certain titles now having region locks. So even if I use my UK store front to buy, I wont be able to play the game outside of Thailand.

This is the game in question for me
Thief.
