Cant play Bastion from my backup!

So I played this game a while ago got a decent way through and then stopped playing for whatever reason. I knew I would want to continue playing another time and so i made a backup.

So now I went to play and instead of installing from the backup I installed from the steam store and started a new game. I remembered about the backup and uninstalled and installed from backup. The problem is that it keeps starting me from my new game. Im not sure if the steam cloud is doing this or what? I tried to disable it in the Bastion preferences but since I have to uninstal to install from the backup I dont think it saves these preferences. Also temporarily disabled steam cloud altogether and tried. This didnt work either.

I searched to Google but found nothing. If anyone knows I would really apprecaite it.

Yes it uses it

But the cloud appears to have saved my newer game not the game I wanted which is on my physical backup

Steam backup doesn't backup your save games, only your game.

I understand that heres the problem.

-Had a saved game I did a backup on
-I accidently started a new game which cloud seemed to save
-Now when I want to play from backup it puts me back to the barely played new game
-I want to go back to the old game which I have the backup of
-Disabling the cloud does not seem to work

Sounds like it overwrote the old save. In which case, it's gone.

But I still have it in my backup. My actual backup not in the cloud. Unless it had been somehow overwritten when I backed it up but I dont think so. Im not sure how I would check this.

This definitely looks like the reason. I sure wasted a lot of time on this haha. I just assumed the point of the backup was to backup my saves. Much appreciated!
