This is what my updating window looks like, it just switches between installing update and extracting package.
Huh, okay, just as I was typing this there are now 2 of windows up doing the exact same thing.
Can you make your own thread in which we can help you with your own problem, rather than hijacking Aqua Hitler's thread?
You can also utilize the search function to see if there are any other threads with your same problem: http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/558746745650867578/?tscn=1392086298
If the suggested fixes don't work for you then you should do as the message indicates and contact Steam Support.

And im stuck here, it is not possible to update/install if i dont turn of my antivirus, and as you might understand, i dont wanna do :)
I dont even know how i managed to connect after half a day of trying and failing, and now it asks me to restart because of the update which will trigger another endless cycle of previously mentioned issues.
Any possible fixes? Because this has gone to the point where Im afraid to turn off my steam because who knows when ill be able to connect again...And logically i cant have pc and steam running 24/7...
As you can guess both those options are completely unviable. I can't believe how much trouble I am having just trying to play games I have installed on my hard drive.
